Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Hygiene Field Technician specializing in asbestos and lead-based paint to support projects throughout Michigan. This position requires someone who can independently plan and perform building surveys from the beginning of employment. When appropriately credentialed, the successful candidate will also conduct lead inspections and risk assessments. Additional responsibilities include asbestos-abatement project monitoring and providing hands-on field training to less-experienced technicians. This is primarily a field-based position. Frequent statewide travel and overnight stays, typically Monday through Thursday, are essential functions of the job. Most assignments are located in central and lower Michigan, with additional projects throughout the state. Responsibilities Independently conduct asbestos inspections and building-material surveys. Maintain accurate sample documentation, field notes, drawings, photographs and chains of custody. Perform lead inspections and risk assessments. Provide asbestos-abatement project monitoring as assigned. Perform air sampling and clearance-related field activities. Maintain daily project logs and communicate field conditions to contractors, clients and project managers. Submit complete, accurate field documentation to the company's report writer. Work alongside junior technicians and provide hands-on field training and technical guidance. Maintain, calibrate and properly use field equipment. Occasionally perform indoor-air-quality or other environmental sampling. Follow company safety procedures and applicable state and federal requirements. Skills Current State of Michigan Asbestos Inspector credential. At least three years of hands-on experience performing asbestos building inspections and surveys. Ability to independently organize and complete field assignments. Experience completing clear and accurate field documentation. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, contractors and coworkers. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Michigan and stay overnight in company-paid hotels, typically Monday through Thursday. Ability to work variable hours based on project and client needs. Ability to wear required PPE and respiratory protection and safely access active construction sites, ladders, uneven surfaces and other building areas. $28.00 - $31.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
