Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, the employee serves as member of a crew for Hazardous/Non-Hazardous Material release response/Industrial cleaning team who remove and dispose of materials and prepare worksites to ensure the work sites are safe and cleaning work may be performed. Employee receives written and verbal assignments from a operator, foreman or supervisor. Work requires initiative and sound judgment. Responsibilities Employee may use highly technical and specialized equipment for the containment, stabilization and mitigation of emergencies involving hazardous and or toxic substances. Maximizes return, and limits related risk, on safety by following processes and procedures derived from the Safety Department. Responsible for maintaining extreme care and attention necessary to prevent physical injury or harm to other employees. Maintains his/her company issued PPE in a clean and fit for use status at all times. Maintains his/hers emergency response company vehicle (if issued one for a specific project). Making sure that the vehicle is always ready to respond and kept clean. Vehicle must be maintained with a full tank of fuel. Environmental Technician shall report to the Emergency Response Supervisor or Office Manager of his/her respective office. Performs repairs, maintenance and decontamination of emergency response and industrial cleaning equipment, making sure that all equipment is in proper condition to respond to the next job. Must sustain a high degree of attention to prevent damage or waste of company owned equipment and supplies Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Duties may include the operation of specialized instruments for atmospheric monitoring and or communication. Duties may include performing job tasks on industrial cleaning projects which may include confined space entry, pressure washing and assisting with vacuum truck work. Employee will participate in and attend special training to maintain skills and knowledge. Employee must be able to respond to emergencies as needed, during normal working hours and after normal working hours such as weekends and holidays. Emergency response is a 24 hour 7 day a week job. Employee is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing any and all hazardous materials equipment. Employee must assist the designated Supervisor with maintaining proper maintenance records of maintained and repaired equipment. Must demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Attend daily and monthly safety meetings as required. Skills High School Diploma or equivalent Continuous, concentrated mental and visual effort to perform complex work. Must be up to date on 40 hour HAZWOPER and confined space training. Must have a TWIC Card Have the ability to lift 50 or more pounds on a continual basis. Ability to work in extreme conditions of weather (heat and cold). Capable of working long shifts under adverse conditions (up to 16 hours a day, and up to 14 days in a row). Knowledge of Emergency Response, Industrial Cleaning and heavy equipment operations is a plus. Must have reliable personal transportation to and from job site Must be accessible by phone Must be On Call 24/7

Pay:

$14.00 - $17.00 per hour
