This is not a layout-only position. The ideal candidate has full program ownership experience including 3D assembly development, complete detail drawing packages, GD&T application, BOM creation, and launch support. We are looking for a designer who leads through execution and technical capability — not title alone. Key Responsibilities Independently design and detail BIW locating and holding fixtures for automated welding, laser cutting, and material handling systems Execute full 3D assemblies and production-ready detail drawings Develop and manage complete BOMs (commercial and manufactured components) Apply proper GD&T and automotive locating/nesting strategy Ensure designs meet customer standards, program timing, and manufacturability requirements Support build floor, debug, and launch activities Review and check internal design work as required Take ownership of design quality and program deliverables Required Experience 7+ years of BIW Automotive Tool Fixture Design experience Demonstrated history of independently releasing complete fixture programs Strong SolidWorks proficiency (2020+ preferred) Strong working knowledge of GD&T and automotive locating strategy Experience participating in customer design reviews Senior-Level Expectations To be considered for this role, candidates must: Have personally executed multiple BIW fixture programs from kickoff to release Be comfortable producing complete detail packages — not just layouts Understand manufacturability and real-world build constraints Be capable of working independently with minimal oversight Layout-only or entry-level candidates will not be considered. Compensation Competitive compensation commensurate with proven senior-level program ownership experience. Schedule Full-time Day shift Monday-Friday Overtime as required
