Job Description Job Duties Maintenance and Repair of mortise, cylindrical lock, and door Hardware Perform general and routine locking system maintenance functions in all CSU Pueblo buildings and Grounds. Respond to locksmith and door system work requests phoned into the Facilities Management front desk during normal operating and after hours. Meet with customers to determine what can and cannot be done within the facility to meet security and code requirements regarding door control changes. Repair and maintain mortise locks, keys, door closers, and panic hardware, hinges, and strike plates. Repair, maintain and install locks, keys and hardware assemblies on cabinets, desks, filing cabinets and interior mill work. Calibrate and adjust automatic and hydraulic door actuators, closures, and fire door coordinators in accordance with NFPA and ADA guidelines. Install, adjust and modify hollow wood, solid wood, and hollow metal and reinforced metal doors as required. Determine door and door hardware requirements per code and regulatory requirements. Adjust door hinges to allow doors to close properly, adjust door closers to conform to ADA requirements. General repairs of key cutting machines to include adjustment and calibration of machine to cut correctly. Making sure work is done properly and to a high standard of excellence. Making sure that the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) is being used. Making sure that the job is performed in a journeyman-like professional manner. Maintenance and Repair of electronic locking systems Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install all security electronic locking systems and equipment in compliance with manufacturer's recommendations, local codes, Health department, Joint Commission, and ACA standards. Including both hardware, software and cabling for electronic security door locks and control. Meet with customers to determine what can and cannot be done within the facility to meet security and code requirements for new construction, modifications, and during equipment breakdowns. Programing and troubleshooting of proximity and smart card locking systems Repair and maintain specialized security locking systems which include; electronic locking solenoids, door position switches, security door alarms and related locking electronic hardware. Making sure work is done properly and to a high standard of excellence. Making sure that the job is performed in a journeyman-like professional manner. Staff Training/Equipment Evaluation Specify and evaluate conventional and electronic equipment used for safety and security of our customers. To include estimates of material list and ordering of parts required for installation of equipment. Evaluate keying requests for compatibility in key hierarchy. Perform data input as required to maintain lock system accuracy for all DHS facilities. Verify core pinning schemes match room locations within buildings and software databases. Locking protocols to maintain security status within all campus buildings and operations. Coordinate and train locking schemes with all customers. Trains staff on uses and operations of manual and electronic locking systems. Architectural Repairs/Other duties as assigned Perform normal daily duties of the Structural Trades II classification as defined in the staff classification position description. Complete cosmetic repairs in campus residence halls, academic buildings, and athletic venues. Perform all work independently at the journeyman level. Estimate materials, plan usage, install, and repair wall and ceiling systems and surfaces. Match existing textures and paint colors when applicable by taping and texturing sheetrock and plaster surfaces. Repair walls and ceilings using like materials and complete/finish painted surfaces. Estimate, install, and repair vinyl and ceramic wall and flooring systems while ensuring proper preparation and substrates are utilized. Replace and re-glue vinyl and rubber cove base. Sand, strip, and stain natural wood finishes. Complete minor concrete repairs including patching cracks in sidewalks and foundations and sealing interior and exterior building surfaces. Perform roof maintenance and leak repairs on various roofing and gutter systems. Assemble furniture and repair office furnishings, as needed. Hang and anchor building, office, and classroom materials such as equipment, whiteboards, paintings, pictures, and plaques. Assist other Facilities departments and teams with operational needs, including snow removal. Work special events and after-hours assignments, including university functions and athletic events, as scheduled. Report to work without delay, as needed, during delayed operations or campus closures as an essential employee. Minimum Qualifications The minimum qualifications for this position are established by the State of Colorado. Per the State criteria, candidates are able to use a year for year exchange in related education for experience.
