DESCRIPTION

Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Advanced Machinist Technician to work from their Scottsdale AZ facility. Utilizing your mechanical aptitude, the Advanced Machinist Technician will work from basic drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. You'll operate lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, and profile machines, brakes and shears such as small lathes, power mills, drills or punch presses, power brakes, shears or saws.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent plus Technical certificate or 3 years of experience or equivalent is required

Duties and Tasks:

Forms and shapes basic material May operate lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, and profile machines, brakes and shears May operate light-duty bench or floor machine tools and equipment such as small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills or punch presses, power brakes, shears or saws Works from basic drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions Sets up machines and makes adjustments, and performs maintenance on machines Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures Interfaces with employees and managers within the department Works under general supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments
