Machinist - Lathe Operator / Set-Up Technician Position Summary Trinity Machining LLC is seeking an experienced Machinist - Lathe Operator / Set-Up Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC lathes to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes for production and prototype machining. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Install and align tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices. Load and verify CNC programs; make approved offsets and minor program adjustments as needed, G-Zero programming software. Perform first-piece inspections and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment. Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements throughout production runs. Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime. Replace tooling and adjust offsets to maintain part quality and production efficiency. Deburr and inspect completed parts as required. Complete production documentation accurately, including inspection records and job travelers. Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in proper working order. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following all company safety procedures. Work with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel to resolve manufacturing issues. Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience preferred . Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes is a plus. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection. Experience using precision measuring instruments including: Micrometers Calipers Dial Indicators Bore Gages Height Gages Thread Gages Ability to perform basic shop mathematics and geometry. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Preferred Skills Experience with Fanuc controls (or similar CNC controls). Knowledge of tooling optimization and process improvement. Familiarity with
ISO 9001
quality systems. Experience machining a variety of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, plastics, and exotic alloys. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds . Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to work safely around moving machinery and cutting tools. Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
