Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description As a CNC Machinist, you will manufacture detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions using various computer- or mechanically controlled machine tools and equipment. You will set up and operate mills, lathes, computer-controlled equipment (CNC) machine tools, grinders, and other machine equipment using mathematical and geometrical calculations. You will use precision measuring instruments to check and maintain tolerances and perform calculations to determine dimensions using measuring instruments. Additionally, you will install, align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces while monitoring the feed and speed of machines. Your role includes measuring and examining completed products for defects and ensuring all surfaces conform to specifications. You may also perform complex and varied machining operations in prototype experimental activities. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers according to complex blueprints and specifications. Retrieve job-related information such as job routings, part drawings, tool lists, and work instructions. Select and utilize appropriate cutting tools and work holding for various materials and machining processes. Document manufactured quantities and all required processes utilizing an ERP system. Perform precise measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet stringent quality control standards. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machining efficiency. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Assist with developing new machining methods and tooling for complex parts. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills 5+ years of Machinist experience High school degree or equivalent, plus advanced training ITAR compliance Excellent attention to detail Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements Basic computer skills Problem-solving abilities Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc. Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions) Strong teamwork and communication skills Understanding and adherence to safety requirements Commitment to maintain a clean work area Additional Skills & Qualifications Machine setup skills Experience with calipers, micrometers, and CNC machinery Knowledge of machining, milling, and machine operation Programming skills for CNC lathe and CNC Mill CNC program editing capabilities CMM operation skills Vertical and horizontal milling expertise Blueprint reading proficiency G code knowledge Capability to set up machines Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs Specific vision abilities including close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time Capability of standing for long periods Why Work Here? Work Environment You will be working in a very large and clean machine shop environment. The work schedule offers several shifts: Day shift from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday; Swing shift from 4:30 pm to 2:45 am Monday to Thursday with an 8% shift differential; and Weekend shift from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm Friday to Sunday with a 12% shift differential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Plains, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
