Role Overview We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a large industrial manufacturing operation in Savannah, GA. This position is focused on machining large turbine and industrial components utilizing large CNC lathes and Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs). The ideal candidate will have strong experience independently setting up and operating large CNC equipment, machining large components to tight tolerances, and interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T. This is ultimately a night/second-shift position; however, selected candidates will initially train on first shift for approximately 3-6 months before transitioning to their assigned shift. Key Responsibilities Independently set up and operate large CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and large lathes. Machine large industrial components to precise dimensional and geometric tolerances. Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, planning sheets, specifications, and GD&T. Determine appropriate tooling, fixtures, machine settings, and machining sequences. Select machining strategies for large forgings and castings. Optimize speeds, feeds, cutting parameters, and tooling to improve quality, cycle time, and tool life. Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and process issues with minimal supervision. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues. Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. Required Qualifications 5+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in heavy industrial or large-component manufacturing. Strong hands-on experience operating large CNC lathes and/or VTL machines. Ability to independently perform machine setups and operations. Experience machining large, tight-tolerance components. Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills. Experience machining alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, large forgings, and/or castings. Proficiency with precision measurement and inspection equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to complete 3-6 months of first-shift training before transitioning to night/second shift. Preferred Experience Candidates with experience machining large power generation, turbine, aerospace, heavy equipment, or other complex industrial components are strongly encouraged to apply
