Lafayette Tool & Die is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist / Toolmaker to join our full-time team. If you enjoy precision machining, solving challenging problems, and taking a job from raw material through the finished part, this may be a good fit for you. We are looking for a machinist with at least 3 years of tool and die or related machining experience who is comfortable working with both CNC and manual mills and lathes . This is not a repetitive production-line position. Our toolmakers and engineers work on a variety of projects, giving you the opportunity to use your experience, solve problems, and continue developing your skills. What You'll Do As a CNC Machinist / Toolmaker, you will: Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes Operate manual mills and lathes Machine parts according to drawings, specifications, and required tolerances Take machining and toolmaking projects from setup through completion Select appropriate tooling and make machine adjustments as needed Inspect your work using precision measuring equipment Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues Maintain a high level of accuracy and workmanship Work independently on technical projects while collaborating with our toolmakers and engineers Follow shop procedures and safe machining practices Assist with equipment maintenance and general shop needs when required
