Illiana Precision Machining is searching for a Manual Machinist that has the skills and ability to make an immediate impact to our business. The ideal candidate will have a solid history in machining with current and relevant experience operating manual lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, horizontal and vertical bandsaws, and other equipment found in typical machine shops. Attention to detail, quality and pride in workmanship are essential values for the right candidate. Pay rate of $28 to $32, based on ability and experience.

Position Requirements:

3 to 5 years verifiable manual machining experience operating manual lathes, vertical knee mills, horizontal boring mills, drill presses and other equipment typically associated with machine shop operations Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship is a big plus Must be mechanically inclined and understand general mechanical concepts Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches and understand verbal direction with minimal supervision in order create the required parts/components Broad knowledge of various machining techniques and processes Proficient in the use of cuttings tools & measuring equipment Must have own tools related to the machinist trade Lift and move up to 65# Work a 40-hour work week and overtime as required to meet customer demands. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Be able to walk or stand at machinery throughout the workday High School diploma or GED, strong math abilities including trigonometry, and good problem-solving skills are essential

Position Responsibilities:

Ability to perform own layout work. Operate precision machinery such as lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, drill press, hydraulic and arbor presses, band saw and other general machine shop cutting tools and equipment Perform setups and utilize various machine tool operations including but not limited to turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, peening, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions to complete the job Calculate and set machine controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut during the machining process of various materials (steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, aluminum and plastics) to achieve quality finishes and dimensions. Ability to troubleshoot and creatively resolve unique machining challenges. Use gauges and precision measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, scales, etc., to meet close tolerance requirements Verifies and is responsible for conformance of finished parts to specifications of the provided drawings. Produce high quality machined parts Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Must maintain a clean and organized work area. Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements and notifying management for troubleshooting and repairs.
