Job Description

Manual Machinist - Plaquemine Climate-controlled facility Full-time, long-term, evaluation-to-hire opportunity.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Starting pay ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Manual Machinist to join a local team in Plaquemine. The perfect candidate will possess practical experience in running manual equipment and crafting precise parts based on technical drawings and measurements. This role is well-suited for a dependable professional who values precision, high-quality output, and maintaining a secure workspace. Primary Duties for the
Manual Machinist:
Configure and run manual lathes, mills, drills, and related shop machinery to create or restore precise parts. Analyze technical blueprints, sketches, and engineering instructions to guide production. Execute various machining tasks such as turning, boring, threading, and milling. Determine optimal machining parameters, including speeds, feeds, and tooling selections, to ensure efficiency. Utilize precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet exact standards. Produce components to strict tolerances to help ensure the final product meets all engineering requirements. Verify that finished pieces align with quality standards and specifications. Prepare necessary tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment for specific tasks. Conduct repairs or modifications on existing parts as needed. Assess damaged or non-compliant components to establish the best repair or machining strategy. Record accurate data regarding all completed machining projects. Ensure that all machinery, tools, and the surrounding shop area remain tidy and well-kept. Carry out regular equipment upkeep and notify management of any mechanical issues. Adhere to all safety and quality protocols to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, inspectors, and leadership to ensure projects are finished on time and to specification.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrate strong teamwork, organizational abilities, and fundamental math skills. Show proficiency in operating various power tools. Maintain a high level of focus to ensure accuracy in every task. Display flexibility to work overtime hours when the workload requires it.
