Position Overview We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machinery to manufacture high-tolerance stair components, complex handrails, spindles, and custom structural fittings. Because our high-end designs blend materials, you will work across both custom woodwork and precision metal components.

Core Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation:

Set up, calibrate, and operate 3-axis and multi-axis CNC routers, vertical mills, or specialized machining centers.

Programming & Adjustments:

Read, interpret, and modify G-code; perform tool wear offsets and program edits to optimize production efficiency and ensure flawless finishes.

Blueprint Translation:

Read and accurately interpret technical drawings, 3D CAD models, architectural blueprints, and material cut sheets.

Multi-Material Processing:

Safely load, secure, and machine a diverse range of materials—including premium hardwoods (oak, maple, walnut) and essential metal components ( aluminum and iron layouts).

Quality Control:

Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure exact compliance with design tolerances and structural safety standards.

Shop Safety & Maintenance:

Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with shop standards.

Qualifications & Skills Experience:

Minimum of 2-4 years of experience operating CNC machinery in a dedicated manufacturing, millwork, or custom metal/wood fabrication shop environment.

Material Expertise:

Proven understanding of proper feeds, speeds, and tooling required for switching between hardwoods and metals (aluminum and iron) .

Technical Skills:

Confident reading blueprints and working with tight tolerances. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Torchmate,Fusion 360) is a strong plus.

Precision:

High attention to detail; dedicated to maintaining a zero-defect standard on both structural frameworks and highly visible aesthetic components.

Collaboration:

A team player who communicates seamlessly with our design team, fabricators, and welders to keep production moving smoothly.

Physical Requirements:
