Responsibilities Set up CNC machining equipment, including lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper calibration and alignment for each job. Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, Conversational, CAM software, and CNC programming techniques to produce precise components according to technical drawings and blueprints. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing specifications to ensure accurate production. Operate manual machining tools such as grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments for quality control and fine-tuning. Conduct precision measurement using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions during the manufacturing process. Perform machine setup tasks including tool selection, fixture installation, and calibration to optimize machining operations. Monitor CNC machine operations for quality assurance; perform quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications. Troubleshoot machining issues by adjusting machine parameters or tooling; perform basic maintenance on CNC equipment to maintain optimal performance. Assist in assembly processes when required by fitting machined parts with other components accurately. Maintain detailed documentation of production runs, inspection reports, and machine logs for traceability and continuous improvement. Experience Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes or milling machines in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of CNC G-code programming and CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks or CAD integration). Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus. Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T specifications for precision manufacturing. Mechanical knowledge including the use of machining tools like grinders, hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and bore measurement instruments. Experience with manual machining techniques such as lathe work or grinding is advantageous. Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances. Knowledge of machine setup procedures for CNC lathe and milling operations; understanding of M-code programming is essential. Ability to perform quality inspections using precision measurement instruments; familiarity with CNC quality control standards is preferred.
