Machine Setup & Operation Set up and operate Proto
TRAK SMX
milling machines , including installing fixtures, tooling, and workholding devices Program or edit ProtoTRAK conversational programs as needed to complete machining operations Load raw materials and properly secure parts for machining operations Perform milling, drilling, boring, tapping, and related machining processes Print Reading & Job Planning Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining methods, sequences, and tolerances Plan setups, select appropriate tooling, and determine optimal cutting parameters (speeds, feeds, depths) Verify material types and ensure alignment with job requirements Quality & Inspection Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators Ensure finished parts meet dimensional tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quality standards Document inspection results as required Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain part quality and efficiency Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, or setup challenges and implement corrective actions Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and optimize cycle times Maintenance & Safety Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic upkeep Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company standards and OSHA guidelines Adhere to all safety protocols and proper machine operation practices Collaboration & Support Work closely with Engineering, Machine Builders, and other team members to support tooling and equipment builds Communicate issues, delays, or improvement opportunities to supervisors and project teams Interface with vendors or customers as needed for technical clarification QualificationsExperience & Education Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing or tool & die environment Hands-on experience with ProtoTRAK SMX or similar conversational CNC/manual systems required Experience supporting automation equipment, tooling, or fixture builds strongly preferred Trade certification or formal machining training is a plus Technical Skills Strong knowledge of milling machine setup and operation Proficiency in blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing Solid understanding of: Cutting tools and tool selection Speeds and feeds optimization Material properties and machining behavior
Pay:
$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 50.0 - 55.0 per week
