The Opportunity We're looking for an experienced Senior CNC Machinist / Lead to join our growing machining team. This is an opportunity for a highly skilled machinist who wants to take the next step in their career and grow into a leadership and management role. The ideal candidate is more than an experienced machine operator. You are someone who understands machining processes, can independently set up and troubleshoot CNC equipment, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and enjoys helping others develop their skills. This position will initially focus heavily on machining and setup while providing opportunities to take on increasing leadership responsibilities. The long-term opportunity is to grow into a Machining Lead and ultimately a CNC Shop Manager. What You'll Do Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 3-axis Haas CNC mills for multiple machining operations Set up and operate a large Fanuc-controlled SNK Bridge Mill; experience with large-format machining is highly valued Edit and modify CNC programs and make necessary adjustments to optimize machining processes Perform workpiece probing and establish accurate work offsets Select appropriate tooling, and proper feeds and speeds for aluminum, low-carbon steel, and other materials Troubleshoot machining process, tooling, programming, and quality issues and determine effective solutions Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and understand GD&T requirements Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, efficiency, quality, and consistency Help establish tooling and material requirements for upcoming production runs Work closely with Engineering, Production, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain production schedules Train, mentor, and support less-experienced machinists Help establish machining standards and best practices within the department Assist the department manager with employee development, training, workflow, and other day-to-day leadership responsibilities Take increasing responsibility for coordinating work and supporting the overall performance of the machining department Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment What We're Looking For 7+ years of CNC machining experience, with significant experience setting up and operating CNC mills Strong hands-on experience with Fanuc CNC mill controls — required Proven ability to independently set up CNC milling machines from start to finish Experience setting up and operating a large format SNK Bridge Mill is strongly preferred Experience with 3-axis Haas vertical mills 1+ year of CAM programming experience; Surfcam experience preferred Strong understanding of tooling, feeds and speeds, work holding methods, and machining processes Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience strongly preferred Ability to work independently while also providing guidance and support to other machinists Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work Good communication skills and a willingness to take ownership and accountability Must own basic hand and precision measuring tools, including calipers and test indicators Leadership & Career Growth This position is designed for an experienced machinist who wants to grow beyond the machine and into leadership. As you demonstrate your technical expertise, leadership ability, and ability to take ownership of the department, you will have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities such as: Training and developing other machinists Coordinating daily machining priorities Assisting with production planning and scheduling Improving machining processes and department efficiency Helping establish department standards and procedures Supporting employee development and performance Taking on increasing responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the machining department The goal is to provide a clear career path from Senior CNC Machinist → Machining Lead → CNC Shop Manager.
