Job Title:

CNC Machinist Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment in a custom machine shop that designs and builds polyurethane foaming fixtures and related equipment. You will work from blueprints to machine custom parts, perform multiple setups per day, and ensure high-quality, precise components through careful inspection and measurement. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC Haas vertical mills, including VFN and VF4 models, for custom part machining. Set up and operate a manual Bridgeport lathe equipped with an electronic digital readout, with training provided on the readout as needed. Take custom parts from blueprints through the full machining process, including setup, operation, and completion. Perform program edits at the machine to ensure accurate and efficient machining operations. Handle tooling changes and adjustments to meet part specifications and maintain productivity. Troubleshoot machining issues, including quality concerns and machine performance, and take corrective action. Perform between 5 and 10 setups per day, maintaining accuracy and consistency across multiple jobs. Inspect parts visually and using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, and thread pins. Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, cut lists, diagrams, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan layouts and procedures. Use math skills to take precise measurements and perform necessary calculations for machining operations. Inspect finished parts for flaws, defects, and conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed. Operate grinders as required to complete or refine machined components. Follow established safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment while working in the shop. Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work area within the custom job shop environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of setup experience on Haas CNC mills, including vertical mill platforms. Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills, preferably Haas VFN and VF4 models. Ability to set up and operate manual Bridgeport lathes with electronic digital readouts, with willingness to learn the readout system. Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and following blueprints, cut lists, diagrams, engineering drawings, and specifications. Strong math skills for taking precise measurements and performing machining-related calculations. Ability to perform program edits on CNC machines to refine and optimize machining operations. Experience with tooling setup, tooling changes, and basic troubleshooting of machining processes. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, and thread pins. Ability to inspect finished parts for flaws, defects, and adherence to specifications. Knowledge of operating grinders as part of the machining and finishing process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a custom job shop environment with varied and unique projects. Familiarity with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems. Comfort working with both CNC and manual machining equipment. Willingness to learn new equipment features, such as electronic digital readouts, with training provided. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise parts. Ability to manage multiple setups per day while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Effective problem-solving skills for addressing machining and quality issues on the floor. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62000.00

  • $73000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
