The work will require one or more skills such as mechanic, machinist, welder, ironworker, blacksmith, millwright, carpenter, crane operator, rigger, plumber, pipefitter, sheet metal worker, mason, painter and auto mechanic. Specific functions include but are not limited to: Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have completed a formal apprenticeship in the machinist discipline. The successful candidate must have 4 years working at the journeyperson level in the machinist discipline. Hourly rates for union-represented employees are collectively bargained by the York Power Authority and IBEW. The negotiated pay rate for this position is $51.01 per hour.
