Job Description

Title:

Manual Machinist (Lathe, VTL, Mill, HBM)

Shift:

1st Shift | Monday

•Friday | 6:00 AM

•2:30

PM Salary:

$25.00

•$30.00 / Hour (DOE)

Manual Machinist Role:

This position exists to provide expert-level precision machining for the restoration and manufacturing of babbitt-lined bearings and large industrial components. The role is responsible for the full "setup-to-finish" process of unique, high-value parts within our client's specialized repair shop environment.

Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), and horizontal boring mills (HBM) Perform intricate machining on large-scale parts involving babbitt and various steel alloys Interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications to determine custom machining sequences Utilize precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to ensure exacting tolerances Adapt machining techniques to the "part-to-part" variety inherent in a repair shop environment Monitor equipment performance and perform routine adjustments to maintain part integrity Document all measurements and machining steps to maintain quality control standards Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency

Manual Machinist Reporting Relationships:

The candidate will report to the Shop Manager and has no direct reports.

About You:

Possess 5+ years of experience in a manual job shop environment Demonstrate proven proficiency with large-scale manual lathes and VTLs Exhibit strong technical literacy in reading blueprints and performing shop math Display a "repair mindset" with experience in one-off or low-volume environments Master the use of various precision inspection and measurement instruments Maintain the physical stamina required to handle large-scale industrial components Show a track record of reliability and punctuality for 6:00 AM starts Commit to high-quality craftsmanship in a specialized industrial setting
