Machine Builder Job Description The Machine Builder assembles mechanical components, parts, and subassemblies used in the production of industrial packaging equipment. This role works from blueprints and assembly instructions to build high-quality machinery, troubleshoot assembly issues, and support overall production goals. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment on a first-shift schedule. Responsibilities Assemble mechanical components, parts, and subassemblies used in the production of industrial packaging equipment. Review blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists to determine required materials, tools, and sequence of operations for each project. Position, align, and fit components using measuring devices, templates, and hand tools to ensure accurate assembly. Inspect assemblies for proper fit, function, and quality, ensuring all equipment meets specifications and standards. Troubleshoot assembly issues and collaborate with supervisors or team members to resolve production challenges promptly. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company policies and safety standards. Support team production goals by assisting with related manufacturing tasks as needed. Use hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical fixtures to complete assembly work. Follow work instructions and documentation accurately to ensure consistent build quality and traceability. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical assembly, machining, or related hands-on work. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience using hand tools and power tools. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and work with precise measurements, including fractions. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to work in various positions, including under machinery when required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Experience with mechanical assembly, machine building, and machine assembly. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting during assembly.
