CNC Machinist - Mill OR Lathe |
Multiple Shifts Location:

1st, 2nd and 3rd
Pay:
$33-$38 p/h Position Overview A precision manufacturing company is seeking experienced CNC Machinists for both milling and turning operations. This is not a basic machine operator position. We are looking for skilled machinists who can independently set up CNC equipment, read complex blueprints, select tooling, determine feeds and speeds, make machine or program adjustments, and consistently produce parts to tight tolerances. Candidates may specialize in CNC mills OR CNC lathes. Experience in both is not required. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills or CNC lathes. Machine precision metal components according to drawings and specifications. Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings. Select appropriate tooling, inserts, workholding, and machining methods. Determine and adjust feeds and speeds for different metals and alloys. Make machine, tooling, offset, and program adjustments as required. Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, and machining issues. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections. Use micrometers, calipers, verniers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Maintain tight dimensional and finish requirements. Complete production and inspection documentation. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and downtime. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Qualifications 4+ years of CNC machining experience. Strong hands-on experience with CNC milling OR CNC turning. Must be capable of independently setting up CNC machines. Experience making machine, tooling, or program adjustments. Strong knowledge of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tool life. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and precision inspection. Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and similar measuring equipment. Strong shop math skills. Ability to troubleshoot machining problems with limited supervision. High school diploma or GED. Willingness to work overtime when production needs require. Preferred Experience Conversational CNC programming CNC program editing Tight-tolerance machining Complex or low-volume production Multi-axis CNC equipment 4-jaw chuck setups for lathe candidates Cutting a variety of metals and alloys Fixture and tooling setup Experience with both CNC mills and CNC lathes Root cause analysis and continuous improvement What We're Looking For We are looking for skilled machinists, not button pushers. Strong candidates should be comfortable setting up their own machines, determining the correct tooling and machining approach, adjusting feeds and speeds, making process corrections, and inspecting their work to ensure the finished component meets specification. You do not need experience on both mills and lathes. Strong experience in either discipline is enough.
Pay:
$33.00 - $38.00 per hour
