Job Description

Job description: Saunders Machine Works (SMW) is a fast-growing, high-precision manufacturer specializing in CNC fixture plates, modular vises, PuckChuck zero-point workholding, and tooling accessories. We run a clean, climate controlled, state-of-the-art facility equipped with Haas, Okuma, Brother, Doosan and Willemin-Macodel equipment, including 5-axis machines, and verticals. Machinist Responsibilities:
Primary Focus:
Program (Fusion 360), set up, and operate CNC vertical machining centers (Haas, Doosan & Okuma) to manufacture SMW fixture plates and core product lines.
R&D & Skill Growth:
Program and operate 5-axis machines, UR Robots, CNC grinders, and multi-axis equipment for R&D projects and custom fixture development.
Quality Control:
Perform in-process quality inspections using precision metrology tools (micrometers, bore gages, optical/height gages).
Shop Operations:
Assist with general shop duties, product assembly, machine maintenance, and process evaluation.
Machinist Requirements:
Experience:
2+ years of CNC machining experience.
CAM/CAD:
2+ years of hands-on Fusion 360 CAD/CAM programming experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, speed/feed optimization, workholding design, and GD&T/metrology basics.
Mindset:
High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and eager to learn new machinery/techniques.
