Sand Springs, OK Job Details Full-time 12 hours ago Qualifications Moving High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Cust-O-Fab is looking for an experienced Manual VTL Machinist to set up and operate vertical turning lathes to produce quality components according to blueprints, specifications, and required dimensions. The ideal candidate will have manual machining experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to working safely and accurately in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Wear required PPE and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and protocols. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications to determine required dimensions and machining requirements. Set up parts and complete layouts according to blueprints and specifications. Set up and operate Manual VTL machines to perform required machining operations. Select and properly use appropriate cutting tools and machining equipment. Measure completed and in-process parts using tape measures, dial calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, and other measuring tools. Verify dimensions and identify machining issues before completing work. Operate overhead cranes regularly to safely load, position, and remove parts from machines. Cut supports and other materials to required lengths using a hot saw. Occasionally operate forklifts when trained and authorized. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment. Communicate production or equipment issues to supervisors as needed. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned, including basic shop tasks when needed. High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years of manual machining experience preferred. Previous experience operating manual VTLs or similar large manual machining equipment preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and specifications. Experience using precision measuring tools, including dial calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers. Ability and willingness to follow directions and established procedures. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team. Good verbal communication skills. Dependable and detail-oriented. Working Conditions Heavy industrial manufacturing and machine shop environment. May be exposed to high noise levels, machinery, metal chips, cutting fluids, dust, and other typical shop conditions. Work may involve large and heavy components, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment. May occasionally work at elevated heights, in confined or congested areas, or around active manufacturing operations. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, bend, and perform other physical activities required in a machine shop environment. May require extended periods of standing and walking. Shift work, rotating schedules, overtime, or extended hours may be required based on production needs. Required to wear appropriate PPE while on the shop floor.
