Position Status:
Fulltime Position Description:
The Machinist is responsible for operating manual and CNC milling machines and lathes to produce precision parts from castings, bar stock, and other materials. Work is performed in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and written and verbal instructions to ensure quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual and/or CNC milling machines and lathes Perform minor CNC program edits using G & M codes Machine parts to tolerances as close as .0002" Select correct speeds, feeds, tooling, and work-holding methods Assist in the design and use of jigs and fixtures Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings Use precision measuring and inspection tools Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and material-handling equipment as needed Verify job documentation and maintain accurate production records Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Work independently with limited supervision Participate in required safety training and comply with all safety procedures
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Prior machining experience (manual and/or CNC) Ability to read and interpret blueprints Strong knowledge of shop math, trigonometry, and GD&T Ability to read, write, and communicate in English Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
