Job Description

Automotive Machinist Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM, NO Weekends, NO Holidays, NO Travel Starting pay: Over $20 an hour plus monthly bonus and benefits

We're seeking a skilled Automotive Machinist to join our team and help us continue delivering top-tier engine performance and reliability. This hands-on role is perfect for someone with a passion for precision, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to craftsmanship. What You'll Do As an Automotive Machinist, you'll be a key player in the reconditioning and rebuilding of automotive engines and components. You'll operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment to perform machining work to exacting standards. You will also work along side 2 Machinists with combined experience of over 80 years.
Key Responsibilities:
Valve grinding Cylinder block boring and honing Surfacing cylinder heads and engine blocks Cutting and installing valve seats Installing cam bearings Measuring and inspecting components for accuracy and performance Using precision instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace What We're Looking For We're searching for a dependable team player with strong attention to detail and a solid background in machining or automotive repair.
Requirements:
Prior experience in a machining or automotive engine rebuilding role Ability to work collaboratively with both the Machine Shop team and broader Automotive of York staff Proficient in using machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders Skilled in precision measuring and quality assurance techniques High mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation High school diploma or GED Must be 18 years or older
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with brake lathes, flywheel surfacers, and oxygen-acetylene torches Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs alone and up to 100 lbs with assistance Comfortable standing for long periods (up to 8 hours) Capable of wearing appropriate PPE and safety gear Visual ability to inspect small engine components with accuracy Why Automotive of York, Inc.?
