Job Description

Because of safety regulations and the use of industrial equipment, applicants must be at least 18 years old. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC milling machines (mills) or CNC turning machines (lathes) to produce precision metal parts according to specifications. Operator might also be tasked with operating manual equipment, such as a bandsaw or belt sander. This role involves understanding supplied documents, monitoring the machining process, and making required changes (if allowed) to produce accurate components.
DAILY FUNCTIONS
1.
Machine Operation:
Receive work instructions (written or verbal) to understand job requirements. Operate machine(s) to produce parts. Monitor machine operations to maintain product quality and output. Maintain equipment/tooling as needed/instructed. 2.
Quality Control:
Inspect machined components for conformance to provided specifications. Report any non-conformities to the supervisor. Make necessary adjustments to correct deviations, with assistance from the lead person if necessary. 3.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Follow established procedures and standard practices for operating cnc machines. Comply with relevant regulations and standards governing the manufacturing process. Report any safety issues to the supervisor or manager. 4.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with other team members to ensure efficient production. Communicate effectively with others to address any issues.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training is a plus. 2. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in English. 3. Previous experience in a machine shop and manufacturing environment. 4. Knowledgeable in the use of measuring equipment such as calipers, height gauges, etc. 5. Knowledge of basic shop math (trigonometry, fractions, Metric to Standard conversions, etc.) 6. Basic understanding and comprehension of blueprints / engineering drawings. 7. Knowledge of machine tooling, materials, and machining processes. 8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing precision components. 9. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. 10. Willingness to learn and grow within the company.
Physical Requirements:
Ability standing for extended periods. Ability to lean, bend, and reach into machines to load or unload materials or components. Ability to operate more than one machine at a time as needed. Lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds daily. Occasionally lift items up to 40 pounds. Be able to work in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors.
