Panel Prep Department Manager Job Summary:

The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC machines used to manufacture acrylic boat panels and related components. This role involves running programs, ensuring parts are produced accurately, and maintaining quality standards throughout the machining process. The CNC Machinist must understand material properties, machine operation, and tooling to prevent defects and ensure efficient production.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Set up, load programs, run and operate CNC machines to ensure acrylic, ABS, and related materials are cut per part specifications. Regularly inspect workpieces during and after machining to verify quality and identify defects, ensuring quality. Make minor program or machine adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Select and change tooling, ensuring proper setup based on material and job requirements. Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in good working condition. Properly identify materials to be machined. Handle materials carefully to prevent damage such as cracking, chipping, or warping. Work with engineering or programming team to troubleshoot issues and improve processes. Locate and access drawings, understanding basic drawing requirements. Verify panel requirements based on drawings. Properly use label maker. Maintain accurate records of production, materials used, and any issues encountered, adhering to production schedules. Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection. Performs other duties as assigned.

Excellent listening skills. Ability to read and interpret technical design drawings. Computer skills. Time management skills. Strong attention to detail and quality. Familiarity with measuring tools and techniques.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. CNC training, knowledge or experience preferred but not required

Physical Job Requirements:

Constantly handling materials such as acrylic panels and ABS sheets, typically weighing up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Frequent use of hands, arms, and wrists to operate machinery and tools. Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching to load materials and access equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
