Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to support manufacturing operations through the setup, operation, and maintenance of manual lathes, milling machines, and toolmaking equipment. This position is located in Orangeburg, SC, where lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment are manufactured. The ideal candidate will have strong manual machining experience, the ability to build and modify machine tools and fixtures, and a solid understanding of precision machining processes in a manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining equipment to produce precision componentsFabricate, modify, repair, and maintain machine tools, fixtures, jigs, and production support equipmentInterpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to produce accurate parts and toolingMeasure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specificationsDesign and build custom tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing and production requirementsPerform machine setups, tooling changes, and process adjustments to optimize machining operationsTroubleshoot machining issues and recommend solutions to improve productivity and qualityRepair worn or damaged tooling, fixtures, and production equipment componentsMaintain equipment and work areas in accordance with safety and housekeeping standardsCollaborate with engineering and production teams on tooling improvements and manufacturing projectsSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reductionDocument completed work, tooling updates, and machining processes as required
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required3+ years of machinist, toolmaker, or manufacturing machining experience preferredExperience operating and setting up manual lathes and milling machines requiredExperience designing, building, and repairing machine tools, fixtures, and production tooling requiredAbility to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specificationsStrong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material propertiesProficiency with precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gaugesStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently and prioritize multiple projects in a manufacturing environmentExcellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workStrong communication and teamwork skillsExperience supporting manufacturing operations in a production facility preferredKnowledge of safe machining practices and shop safety proceduresAbility to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work in an industrial environmentQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
