Senior Machinist II Mira Mesa, CA - $23.75 - 2nd shift Job Description This role operates and sets up 3-axis CNC mills in a high-volume manufacturing environment, focusing on safe, accurate, and efficient production. You will run CNC Haas mills and Robo drills with Fanuc controls, perform machine changeovers, and ensure parts meet dimensional specifications using precision measuring tools. Responsibilities Operate CNC Haas mills, Robo drills, and other vertical milling machines using Fanuc controls in a production environment. Perform complete machine changeovers, including setting up 3-axis CNC machines and preparing them for the next production run. Verify that the correct CNC program is loaded, running, and free of errors before and during production. Insert, adjust, and secure fixtures on t-plates using appropriate tools such as torque wrenches to ensure safe and stable setups. Perform tool touch-offs and adjust tool offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality. Load and unload parts into the machines, monitoring cycle progress and addressing issues as they arise. Utilize calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other tools to inspect parts and verify dimensional conformance. Conduct dimensional inspections during and after machining to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards. Follow lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Complete required departmental paperwork accurately and legibly, including production records and inspection documentation. Adhere to safety procedures and quality standards at all times while working in a repetitive, high-volume production setting. Collaborate with team members and leadership to troubleshoot setup challenges and resolve machining issues. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with lean and 5S practices. Essential Skills Ability to operate CNC mills, including Haas mills and vertical milling machines, in a manufacturing environment. Experience with CNC machine setup on 3-axis machines, including fixture installation and tool touch-offs. Familiarity with Fanuc controls and running CNC programs for production. Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools. Ability to read and write at a High School level or equivalent to follow written instructions and complete paperwork. One year of experience performing machine operation with a Haas CNC or relevant CNC machining experience. Basic math skills to perform measurements, conversions, and simple calculations related to machining and inspection. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices. Awareness of lean Six Sigma concepts as they relate to process improvement and quality. Ability to work effectively in a repetitive, high-volume production setting while maintaining focus on safety and quality. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent education. Hands-on experience with Haas mills, Robo drills, and mill machines in a production environment. Exposure to lean manufacturing environments and continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with lean Six Sigma methodologies and terminology.
