Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, setting up, and programming CNC lathes to produce precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards and specifications through meticulous measurement, inspection, and machine calibration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code, and experience with various machining tools and measurement instruments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes in a dynamic environment committed to lean principles and continuous improvement. Duties Set up CNC lathe machines, including installing tooling, fixtures, and calibration devices to prepare for production runs. Program CNC lathes using G-code, M-code, and CAM software to generate precise machining instructions. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements. Operate manual and CNC machining tools such as grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control. Perform precision measurements during machining processes to ensure parts meet specifications using measurement instruments like dial indicators and micrometers. Conduct machine troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and adjustments to optimize performance and minimize downtime. Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and surface finish using GD&T standards and quality inspection tools. Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design, fixture setup, and process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles. Maintain detailed documentation of machining parameters, inspection reports, and process adjustments for quality assurance. Support continuous training on new technologies such as electrical discharge machining (EDM), CAD/CAM programming, and advanced measurement techniques. Qualifications Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment; familiarity with CNC milling is a plus. Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, and CAM software such as SolidWorks or CAD systems. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Knowledge of machining tools, tooling setup, fixture installation, and manual machining techniques. Ability to perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments. Mechanical knowledge of metalworking processes including grinding, boring, turning, milling, and finishing operations. Familiarity with manufacturing standards such as GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for quality control. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, and speeds. Experience with lean manufacturing practices aimed at reducing waste and improving efficiency. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in machine setup and quality inspection tasks. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols. Join our team as a CNC Lathe Machinist if you are committed to precision craftsmanship and eager to contribute your technical expertise to high-quality manufacturing projects.
