Overview:
The CNC Set‑Up Machinist is responsible for setting up CNC machines, selecting tooling, adjusting programs, and ensuring first‑article quality before releasing jobs to production. Key Responsibilities Set up CNC mills/lathes including tooling, fixturing, and program loading Perform first‑article inspections and verify dimensional accuracy Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and tool paths as needed Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize performance Train CNC Operators on proper machine operation Maintain documentation for setups and process improvements Qualifications 3+ years CNC machining/set‑up experience Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMM reports Experience with common CNC controls (Haas, Fanuc, Mazak) Ability to lift 50 lbs and work independently Preferred Experience in high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing Ability to edit G‑code for minor program adjustments
