Job Overview The Machinist II is responsible for producing precision-machined components using both manual and CNC machines, applying intermediate-level knowledge of machining practices, tools, and processes. This role supports production goals by performing setups, operating machines independently, and maintaining part quality, with opportunities to grow into advanced CNC programming or a lead machinist role. In this role, the individual will need to operate manual lathes and mills and CNC machines, manufacturing parts to customer and engineering specifications to the company's high standards of quality
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Live Company values every day. Actively work as a team to fulfill the company goals. Perform all job duties in accordance with the safety policies set forth by the company and OSHA. Operate manual machines including lathes, mills, and drill presses to machine parts to specifications. Setup and rung CNC machines (mills and/or lathes) using pre-written programs or making minor edits as needed. Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings. Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to inspect parts for accuracy. Perform part setups, tool changes, and make necessary offets or adjustments. Monitor machining operations and perform in-process inspections to ensure part quality. Assist in basic troubleshooting of machine issues and notify supervisors or maintenance staff as needed. Understanding the use of power tools. (Table saws, bandsaws, sanders, drill presses, miter saws) Accurately account for materials per processes and procedures. Accurately log time into the computer. Ensure paperwork and documentation is effectively completed and submitted for each job.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have good manual dexterity. Be able to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, and technical documentation. Knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques. Proficient in the use of a variety of hand tools and power tools. Be able to read, understand, and communicate the English language, both verbally and in writing. Familiarity with shop math, feeds and speeds, cutting tools, and working with various materials. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum 1-3 years in machining environment. Preferred Education and Experience Technical certificate, associate degree, or completion of a machinist training program. Experience with CNC controllers (Haas, Okuma, Fanuc) Previous experience in a job shop, tooling, or production environment.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, talk or hear, and use foot/feet to operate machinery. Must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
