Monday through Friday Position Summary Covoc is seeking an organized, dependable, and hands-on Curtain Workroom Lead & Fabric Cutter to help manage the daily flow of curtain orders through our production workroom. This position combines fabric cutting with day-to-day production leadership. The Workroom Lead is responsible for organizing production priorities, assigning employees to the appropriate machines and tasks, and helping ensure orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The Workroom Lead also serves as the primary fabric cutter. Cutting is one of the most important steps in our production process because it starts each order, establishes the pace of production, and directly affects the quality of the finished curtain. The right candidate will be highly attentive to detail, comfortable working with measurements, and able to balance hands-on production work with responsibility for directing and supporting the workroom team. Primary ResponsibilitiesWorkroom Leadership and Production Flow Review daily production priorities and organize orders in the appropriate sequence. Monitor curtain orders as they move through cutting, sewing, finishing, inspection, and packaging. Assign employees to sewing machines, workstations, and specific production tasks based on workload, skill level, and production needs. Move employees between tasks as needed to maintain an efficient workflow and prevent production delays. Clearly communicate priorities, instructions, and schedule changes to the workroom team. Monitor order progress and identify potential delays, material shortages, quality concerns, or missing information. Coordinate with the office and operations teams regarding production schedules, order requirements, and completion dates. Provide hands-on assistance throughout the workroom when needed. Help maintain an organized, productive, safe, and team-oriented work environment. Promote accountability while treating employees respectfully and consistently. Fabric Cutting and Material Inspection Serve as the primary fabric cutter for curtain production. Review work orders, curtain dimensions, fabric specifications, and cutting instructions before beginning each order. Accurately measure and cut fabric based on curtain dimensions, required allowances, and fabric pattern repeats. Perform basic calculations when necessary to determine the correct cutting point and minimize material waste. Inspect incoming fabric for flaws, damage, incorrect color, incorrect material, or other quality concerns. Verify received fabric against purchase orders and production requirements. Document and promptly report fabric defects, shortages, or discrepancies. Properly identify, organize, and stage cut fabric for the next step in production. Ensure fabric is handled and stored properly to prevent damage, contamination, or misidentification. Quality Control Confirm that cutting and production work match the measurements and specifications on the work order. Identify errors early and take corrective action before an order moves further through production. Monitor work-in-process for quality, consistency, and compliance with company standards. Help ensure completed orders are accurate, properly labeled, and ready by their required completion dates. Maintain a high standard of workmanship while supporting efficient production. Employee Training and Performance Help train new and existing employees on workroom procedures, equipment, production methods, and quality expectations. Observe employee productivity, accuracy, reliability, teamwork, and adherence to workroom procedures. Provide employees with clear direction, coaching, and constructive feedback. Participate in employee performance evaluations and provide management with objective feedback regarding employee performance. Document and communicate recurring performance, attendance, conduct, or quality concerns to management. Recommend additional training, recognition, reassignment, or corrective action when appropriate. Work with management to establish clear expectations and improve employee performance. Management retains final authority over compensation, formal discipline, hiring, promotion, and termination decisions. Qualifications Previous experience in fabric cutting, sewing, textile production, drapery fabrication, upholstery, garment production, or a similar manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Previous experience directing employees or coordinating production workflow is preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to read work orders, measurements, and written production instructions. Ability to perform basic calculations involving dimensions, quantities, allowances, and fabric pattern repeats. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple orders with different deadlines. Confidence in assigning work and providing clear direction to team members. Clear, respectful, and professional communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust when production priorities change. Dependable, punctual, and willing to take ownership of workroom results. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are helpful but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work at a cutting table for extended periods. Ability to safely use fabric-cutting tools and production equipment. Ability to handle and maneuver large rolls and pieces of fabric. Ability to perform repetitive measuring, marking, cutting, and material-handling tasks. Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the production workroom. Ability to safely lift and carry up to [insert weight] pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
