Job Description

Shift:
Tuesday-Saturday 3pm-11:30pm
Pay:
$21.50hr Position Summary The Conversion Lead is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Conversion Department while ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. This role provides hands-on leadership by coordinating workflow, supporting machine operators, troubleshooting production issues, and serving as the primary point of contact between the production team and supervisors. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience operating conversion equipment and the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Conversion Department to meet production schedules. Assign work and prioritize tasks based on production demands. Provide hands-on support by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting conversion equipment as needed. Train, mentor, and coach Conversion Machine Operators on equipment operation, quality standards, and safety procedures. Monitor machine performance and assist with equipment adjustments to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. Ensure work orders, specifications, and production documentation are completed accurately. Verify finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards. Conduct first-piece and in-process quality inspections. Communicate production status, equipment issues, and material shortages to Production Supervisors. Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Shipping, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow. Promote and enforce company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased production efficiency. Assist with inventory control and material movement as needed. Support shift changeovers by communicating production updates and outstanding priorities. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing experience , preferably in a conversion, film, plastics, composites, packaging, or roll goods environment. Previous leadership experience as a Lead, Senior Operator, or Team Lead preferred. Experience operating conversion, rewinding, slitting, laminating, or similar manufacturing equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Ability to read and interpret work orders, manufacturing specifications, and production schedules. Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment. Preferred Qualifications Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience. Forklift certification or ability to become certified. Experience working in ISO or quality-controlled manufacturing environments. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds . Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks. Comfortable working around moving machinery in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting production deadlines. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices. Ability to train and develop team members. Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
