Galasso's Bakery is a full-line bakery producing hearth baked sourdough, sliced and French breads as well as dinner rolls, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and specialty breads. Galasso's produces over 300 different bread items for restaurants, hotels, theme parks, sport complexes, quick-serve restaurants, hospitals, and government complexes.
Position Scope:
The Mixer Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by assisting in various areas of the production department. Responsibilities include the oversight of the divider machine set-up and monitoring to ensure they meet company standards and maintaining a clean working environment. This position contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and quality of production operations.
Essential Duties:
1. Ensure machine set-up is completed at the start of the shift and working properly at all times. 2. Monitors and maintains proper scaling weights at all times. 3. Maintain accurate information in divider sheet, including pan count and any loss time. 4. Adhere to company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Allergen, HACCP, and safety policies and procedures, following hygiene protocols, handling allergens safely, and implementing HACCP principles. 5. Communicate any food safety or equipment concerns to supervision promptly, providing detailed information and recommendations for resolution. 6. Maintain a clean and organized work area by cleaning work surfaces, organizing materials and tools, and disposing of waste properly. 7. Work overtime as needed and demonstrate flexibility with shift schedules, accommodating production demands, adapting to schedule changes, and maintaining availability. 8. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors, being flexible, responsive, and collaborative in supporting departmental goals. 9. Participate in training sessions or workshops to enhance job-related skills and knowledge of production processes. 10. Collaborate with team members to address production challenges and achieve daily production targets. 11. Participate in routine maintenance activities, such as cleaning equipment, to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
Secondary Duties:
1. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting the production team. 2. Contribute to process improvements and actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the production department. 3. Assist with changeover and set up machines and/or equipment, as necessary.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
1. High school diploma (not required) 2. 2-3 years of practical experience in manufacturing preferred. 3. Capacity to prioritize tasks and work efficiently within designated timeframes. 4. Ability to adjust to changing priorities, production demands, and shift schedules. 5. Capability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and troubleshoot equipment or process problems. 6. Commitment to adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times. 7. Basic understanding of machinery operation and the ability to perform minor adjustments or troubleshooting. 8. Basic proficiency in communication purposes.
