FULL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dependable Shop Assistant to support second-shift operations within a fast-paced laser fabrication and metal manufacturing environment. This temporary role will assist with material handling, forklift operation, staging raw materials, preparing finished parts for shipment, and providing general support to machine operators and fabricators. The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable shifting priorities throughout the day to support changing production needs. The selected candidate will be responsible for: Operating a forklift to safely load, unload, move, and transport steel and other raw materials throughout the shop Assisting machine operators and fabricators with material handling and general production support Organizing and staging raw materials for production Moving and organizing steel, metal parts, and other shop materials Preparing materials and finished parts for shipment Preparing orders for shipping Moving completed parts to appropriate staging or shipping areas Providing general support to production personnel as needed Responding to changing production priorities in a fast-paced shop environment Helping maintain efficient material flow throughout production areas Maintaining a clean and organized work area Following established shop and safety procedures Safely handling raw steel, fabricated parts, and other industrial materials Supporting loading and unloading activities as needed Using carts, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment as trained and authorized Helping keep production areas supplied with materials Assisting with general shop cleanup and organization Performing additional shop and production support duties as assigned The selected candidate will also possess: Previous manufacturing, metal fabrication, warehouse, machine shop, or related industrial experience preferred Previous forklift experience preferred Sit-down forklift certification highly preferred, but not required Ability to safely operate a forklift following appropriate training and authorization Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds required Ability to safely handle steel, metal parts, and other production materials Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong attention to safety required Strong organizational habits preferred Dependable and punctual attendance required Ability to take direction and respond to changing priorities Flexible and team-oriented work style required Ability to assist machine operators, fabricators, and other production personnel as needed Ability to work onsite in Oceanside, CA Ability to work Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM Ability to support a temporary assignment of approximately two months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, squat, and move throughout shop and production areas Ability to perform repetitive material-handling, staging, loading, and production-support activities Ability to safely handle steel, metal components, raw materials, finished parts, and shipping materials Ability to safely operate forklifts, carts, and other applicable material-handling equipment when trained and authorized Ability to work around laser fabrication equipment, machinery, steel, and other industrial materials Ability to work in a busy manufacturing environment with normal industrial noise and activity Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable manufacturing and safety procedures Ability to maintain awareness, accuracy, and safe work practices throughout the shift
