Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator B on 1st shift in our Bedding Department at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for safely operating machinery and equipment used to manufacture, package, and ship our products to both internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and coordinate with Carpenter Employees of all levels to safely and efficiently meet daily production demands. Additional responsibilities of the Machine Operator B will include: Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment. Perform cutting operations according to programs, material, and customer specifications. Place excess trim material in baler and secure trim material for removal from baler. Cross-train to operate other department equipment as needed. Follow safety protocol using all required PPE. Properly maintain inventory and production documentation. Accurate labeling of all packages in Bedding area and stock packages. Follow the Carpenter's safe stacking policy and procedures. Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality. Read and interpret a basic tape measure on a daily basis. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Safe operation of a forklift. Perform and record required quality inspections. Shift hours are currently 6:00a.m. - 2:30p.m. for 1st shift, with mandatory overtime as determined by the workflow. Skills and Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to obtain a company forklift license. Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and possibly weekends if workflow demands. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
