Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dependable Automatic Welding Machine Operator to operate automated welding equipment used in the production of structural steel beams. This is a hands-on manufacturing position that combines machine operation with welding and fabrication work on the finished product. The ideal candidate has experience in welding, CNC equipment, or automated/robotic welding and is comfortable working with large structural steel components in a production environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate an automatic welding machine used in structural steel beam production. Monitor the welding process and make necessary adjustments to maintain proper weld quality. Work directly on steel beams throughout the production process. Perform tack welding as needed to prepare and secure material for welding. Inspect welds for quality, completeness, and visible defects. Verify material and beam components are properly positioned before and during welding. Identify welding, material, or equipment problems and take appropriate action. Use welding and fabrication tools safely and correctly. Maintain an organized work area and perform routine equipment checks and cleaning. Meet established production requirements while maintaining safety and quality standards. Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE. Qualifications Previous MIG welding or structural steel fabrication experience preferred. Prior CNC or automated/robotic welding experience preferred. Experience operating automatic welding or similar fabrication equipment preferred. Ability to perform tack welding and basic welding repairs preferred. Ability to recognize acceptable weld quality and common welding defects. Mechanical aptitude and ability to make basic machine and welding-process adjustments. Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team. Ability to safely work around large, heavy structural steel components. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and work around large steel beams and fabrication equipment. Ability to lift and handle materials and tools associated with the position. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around welding operations, machinery, noise, heat, and moving material.
