Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Packaging Room Foreman is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of the assigned packaging rooms. This position provides day-to-day leadership and direction to packaging employees, coordinates production according to the established schedule, monitors product quality, and ensures packaging equipment and work areas are properly operated and maintained. The Foreman is expected to take ownership of the performance of the packaging room, identify and resolve day-to-day production issues, and communicate equipment, staffing, quality, or production concerns to management as needed. Swing Shift 5pm-3:30am
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production needs require.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Operations
  • Organize and direct daily packaging operations according to the established production schedule and priorities.
  • Ensure products are packaged accurately and efficiently according to company and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate equipment setup, product changeovers, packaging materials, and staffing to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Monitor production throughout the shift and make adjustments as needed to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Ensure accurate use and reporting of product, bags, cartons, labels, thread, and other packaging materials.
  • Maintain accurate production, inventory, and packaging records as required.
  • Perform equipment setup and operational adjustments as needed.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, adjustments, and minor repairs on packaging equipment as needed.
  • Identify equipment problems and communicate larger maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Leadership & Employee Supervision
  • Provide daily direction and supervision to packaging 8 or more employees.
  • Assign employees to work areas and adjust staffing as production needs change.
  • Train employees in proper equipment operation, packaging procedures, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Set clear expectations for employees and hold the crew accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and workplace conduct.
  • Provide coaching and correction when performance or procedures do not meet expectations.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and a productive work environment within the packaging room.
  • Communicate staffing, performance, or disciplinary concerns to management. Quality & Safety
  • Monitor packaged product to ensure it meets company and customer quality standards.
  • Verify proper product, packaging, labeling, weights, lot information, and other requirements throughout production.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies and proper equipment operating procedures.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe packaging area.
  • Ensure required cleaning and sanitation procedures are completed between products and as needed. Inventory & Communication
  • Assist with physical inventory of product and packaging materials as needed.
  • Communicate packaging material shortages, production delays, equipment issues, quality concerns, and other operational problems to management in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, maintenance, and other departments as necessary to maintain production flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous packaging, production, manufacturing, or equivalent operational experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to lead employees, communicate expectations, and address performance issues appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand production schedules, packaging specifications, inventory records, and basic technical information.
  • Basic math skills necessary for production, weights, counts, and inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and other departments.
  • Ability to speak and understand English as necessary for safety, production, and communication requirements.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and work in a noisy and dusty production environment.
  • Ability to follow and enforce company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.

May operate, set up, adjust, or supervise the operation of packaging and production equipment including:
  • Form-and-fill packaging equipment
  • Sewing machines
  • Carton tapers
  • Box and hand staplers
  • Bag scales and small scales
  • Labeling equipment
  • Truck scales
  • Two-way radios
  • Other packaging and production equipment as assigned
Pay:
$27.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 50.0 - 60.0 per week
