Industrial Master Mixer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Industrial Master Mixer for a full-time, contract-to-hire position located in Manteno, IL. This position focuses on hands-on bakery manufacturing, where you will be responsible for executing dough production by following precise formulas, recipes, and established manufacturing timelines. In this role, you will manage the entire mixing cycle, from the initial scaling and weighing of ingredients to monitoring mixing durations, dough temperatures, and overall batch integrity. You will also be tasked with documenting production data, resolving technical issues, and providing mentorship to junior Mixing Operators to ensure efficient workflow. Core Responsibilities Analyze production plans and recipe documentation to establish the correct sequence and volume for batches. Measure, weigh, and organize all necessary dry and liquid components for production. Confirm that all raw materials meet standards regarding lot numbers, expiration dates, allergen protocols, and FIFO inventory management. Input ingredients into commercial-grade mixers following specific formulas and loading sequences. Assess batch quality by tracking mixing speeds, durations, hydration levels, dough temperature, and consistency to ensure a superior final product. Identify and resolve issues such as improper hydration, ingredient clumping, or over-mixing to maintain consistent batch standards. Perform quality inspections throughout the process and report any deviations from specifications to management. Maintain precise production logs, including data on temperatures, ingredient weights, mix times, and any adjustments made during the process. Optimize the mixing process to ensure a steady and efficient flow of materials to the production line. Provide guidance and training to support the development of less-experienced team members. Conduct pre-operational equipment checks to help maintain a safe and functional working environment. Support the team by assisting with sanitation, equipment changeovers, and the staging of ingredients. Uphold strict compliance with food safety, PPE, allergen control, and sanitation protocols to protect the integrity of our products. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in bakery manufacturing, specifically focused on dough processing or mixing. Background as a Dough Maker, Lead Mixer, or similar role within a bakery production setting. Practical experience utilizing industrial-scale mixing machinery. Demonstrated ability to perform precise measurements and maintain accurate production records. Proven capability to assess dough characteristics and address inconsistencies in the mixing process. Working knowledge of food manufacturing safety standards and allergen management. Familiarity with industry-standard food safety protocols including HACCP, GMP, and SQF. Experience in a leadership or training capacity, specifically regarding workflow management and personnel development. Comfort working in a manufacturing facility characterized by loud machinery and fluctuating temperatures. Physical ability to stand for long durations and lift up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation. Flexibility to work a schedule of up to six days weekly to meet production demands. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in both English and Spanish. Hands-on experience with horizontal, spiral, or planetary industrial mixing equipment. Familiarity with automated dosing systems, hydraulic lifts, water meters, and dough hoppers.
Compensation & Benefits Hourly Rate:
$26.00-$30.00.
Shift Availability:
Openings for both 1st and 2nd shifts.
