Job Description

Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C., a division of Laitram, L.L.C., and a supplier of quality, high precision components has a position available for an Entry Level Machine Operator on our 2nd shift. This individual will be involved with the machining of a variety of materials to produce parts that meet dimensional and workmanship standards per Laitram Machine Shop's Quality Management System. Laitram Machine Shop, provides high-value machining and related services to the Laitram divisions and select outside customers. Responsibilities Load and unload raw material and finished parts from CNC machine work-holding devices. Start and monitor machine cycles to ensure uninterrupted production. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed parts to identify defects or nonconforming conditions. Accurately complete production transactions, including clocking on/off jobs, recording quantities, and completing required paperwork. Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines, tooling, and work areas in accordance with 5S standards. Remove chips, clean machine enclosures, and dispose of scrap material appropriately. Communicate machine, tooling, quality, or production concerns to the Production Lead, Machinist, or Supervisor. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to learn manufacturing processes. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions. Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Flexibility to support changing production priorities. Basic computer skills. Strong communication and time management skills. Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Desired Qualifications Previous manufacturing, warehouse, machine operator, or production experience. Experience operating CNC equipment or other industrial machinery. Experience using basic inspection equipment such as calipers, rulers, or gauges. Basic blueprint reading skills. Technical school, vocational training, or coursework in machining or manufacturing technology. Forklift and overhead crane experience.
