Machine Operator - Die Cutting and Rewinder Job Description This role focuses on operating die cutting and rewinding machines in a printing production environment. You will work with rolls of sticker labels, set up and load materials into the rewinder, follow detailed work orders on paper, and ensure correct colors and dies are used. The position is hands-on and mechanically focused, requiring attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities Load large rolls of sticker labels onto the die cutting and rewinding machines according to the work order specifications. Enter work order information into the machine's screen and ensure all settings match the required size, quantity, and layout. Monitor the machine as it breaks down large rolls into smaller rolls with the correct amount and size of labels. Ensure the correct color dies and printing components are selected, installed, and aligned properly in the machine. Use hands frequently to load, unload, and handle product throughout the production process. Follow written work orders on paper with precision, verifying that all instructions are understood and executed correctly. Perform basic math calculations (such as addition and subtraction) to confirm quantities, measurements, and material usage. Inspect finished rolls and labels for quality, accuracy, and consistency, identifying and reporting any defects or issues. Assist with general production tasks, including assembly, packing, and packaging of finished products. Set up and adjust production machines, including slitter, roller, and rewinder equipment, to meet job requirements. Operate printing and label machines safely, maintaining a clean and organized work area. Work effectively in a fast-paced production environment, meeting daily output and quality targets. Collaborate with the rewinder lead and other team members to troubleshoot mechanical issues and optimize machine performance. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with mechanical and production equipment. Essential Skills Ability to read and understand English work orders and instructions. Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in working with machines and production equipment. Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, to handle measurements and quantities. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and quality. Comfort with hands-on work, frequently loading, unloading, and handling product and materials. Production experience or background of at least 3 months. Machine operation experience, particularly with production machines, rollers, and rolling equipment. Strong reliability and dedication, with consistent attendance and punctuality. Ability to follow detailed instructions and use common sense to solve basic problems on the production floor. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous printing or print press experience is a strong plus but not required. Experience with printing machines, label machines, rewinder and rewind machines, slitter, and die cast or die cutting equipment. Familiarity with inspection processes for labels and printed materials. General production, assembly, and packaging experience. Mechanical experience or strong mechanical inclination. Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and willingness to learn new skills. Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and training. Work Environment The role is based on an organized production floor within the rewinding section. You will work closely with an experienced rewinder lead and a team of long-tenured operators, many with over 15 years of experience. The environment is fast-paced yet structured, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. You will work with printing presses, label machines, die cutting and rewinding equipment, slitter machines, rollers, and other production machinery in a hands-on manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Easton, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
