Position Description:
The Laser Operator is responsible for producing parts efficiently and effectively by operating CNC 5-axis lasers with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will understand and be able to modify CNC code; and to follow established policies/procedures to ensure that appropriate steps are followed and completed enabling to pass 1st and 2nd piece inspections. They will also follow quality procedures and coordinate any issues through the appropriate department.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform tooling setup per work instructions Load / unload parts onto fixtures and operate 5-axis laser machine Inspect completed parts using micrometers, indicators, calipers, comparators, etc. Perform maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work areas Perform machine alignment procedures to ensure peak operating performance Maintain quality standards through understanding of the Quality Management System Develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisor, and other staff Other duties as directed by supervisor
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Working knowledge of CO2 and Fiber laser equipment, tooling, and processes Knowledge of G&M codes Attention to detail and ability to deal with complex part geometry Ability to read and understand blueprints and use various inspection equipment Experience in sheet metal or machining environment a plus Willing to train individuals that can run CNC equipment and have a knowledge of programming
