$21.63 - $24.04 Summary At American Gas Products, Inc., the Quality Control Plant Assistant supports daily operations of an industrial and packaged gas facility. This role helps ensure that specialty gas products are filled, tested, labeled, inspected, documented and prepared for customer delivery While maintaining compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Follow all industrial gas safety protocols, including proper PPE, cylinder labeling, handling, and hazard communication. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FDA and company standards. Report unsafe conditions, leaks, damaged cylinders, or equipment abnormalities immediately. Participate in safety meetings, emergency drills, audits, and ongoing training. Cylinder Handling & Production Load, unload, move, and sort high‑pressure gas cylinders using carts, forklifts, or pallet jacks. Assist in cylinder filling operations for gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, acetylene, CO₂, and specialty gases. Perform pre‑fill and post‑fill inspections on cylinders (valves, threads, labels, hydrostatic test dates). Operate plant equipment such as compressors, pumps, manifolds, cryogenic fill stations, vaporizers, and gas mixing systems, as trained and authorized. Perform other duties as assigned. Equipment & Plant Operations Assist with routine equipment checks and basic maintenance activities. Monitor gauges, pressure levels, liquid levels, alarms, and instrumentation. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area. Inventory & Documentation Tag, label, and barcode cylinders based on gas type and purity. Record cylinder movements in plant management systems or logbooks. Assist with stock counts and product rotation. Customer Service & Logistics Support Prepare cylinders for shipment: palletizing, shrink-wrapping, and verifying orders. Assist drivers and warehouse personnel with loading, unloading and deliveries as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. and occasionally lift 76 - 100+ pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend and work on feet for extended periods. Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to learn equipment operation. Forklift certification or experience preferred Strong understanding of safety practices; experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of pressurized gas cylinder handling Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Strong safety awareness Teamwork and communication skills Basic math and measurement skills Work Environment Industrial plant setting with exposure to loud noise, temperature fluctuations, moving equipment, and pressurized cylinders. Requires wearing PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, hearing protection, and flame-resistant clothing as applicable.
