Job Description

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 400+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Packaging Machine Operator role in our Jessup, MD facility.
JOB SUMMARY
The Production Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize production and shipping of products and raw material.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES PRODUCTION
Operate baler in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for our customers Confer with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties Assist in cleaning up work area
SHIPPING
May operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner while loading trucks with packaged material May also be required to load AWF and customer trailers May be asked to complete paperwork for shipping Perform inspection of product and rework damaged or non-conforming product as needed QUALITY Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, truck drivers, office personnel, and customers Assist in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed SAFETY Attend monthly safety meetings Wear required PPE Attend safety trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. regularly Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke-free environment
