We are looking for a skilled Machine Operator to help us meet our production goals. About the Role You'll operate and care for a variety of woodworking machines in our machine center, working with equipment such as CNC routers, Panel Saws, Edgebanders, Automated Material Handlers, and Dowel Inserters. You'll be responsible for ensuring the efficient production of custom millwork products while maintaining high safety and quality standards. What You'll Do Operate CNC routers, Panel Saws, Edgebanders, Automated Material Handlers, Dowel Inserters, and other woodworking machinery to fabricate custom wood products. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production schedules to ensure accurate machining of parts. Load and run CNC programs generated by engineering, adjusting programs and machine settings at the machine as a run requires. Monitor machine operations, make adjustments as necessary, and troubleshoot any issues to ensure smooth and efficient production. Perform daily operator-level care to keep machines clean and running; repair and preventive maintenance are handled by our maintenance technician. Load materials into machines and ensure proper alignment and feed rates. Conduct quality checks on machined parts against the approved shop drawing and the AWI grade specified for that project. Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and ensuring machines are kept in good working condition. Complete the paper work order that travels with each job, and sign off your operation before it moves on. What You'll Need Previous experience operating CNC routers, Panel Saws, Edgebanders, or similar woodworking machinery, ideally in a custom millwork or commercial woodworking environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Experience setting up and running CNC machinery, including making program and setting adjustments at the machine. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and production targets. Knowledge of woodworking materials and processes, including hardwoods, veneers, laminates, and composite materials. Basic computer skills for machine operation and production tracking. Nice to Have Prior experience with automated material handling systems and dowel inserters. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software used to generate CNC output. Knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting techniques. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 75 lbs. Prolonged standing, bending, and repetitive hand movements while operating machines. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
