As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining state-of-the-art laser cutting equipment to produce accurate, intricate parts according to detailed technical drawings and production specifications. Responsibilities Set up and operate 2D/flat laser cutting machines, ensuring precise alignment and calibration for each job. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production documents to accurately produce parts that meet specifications. Program laser equipment using CNC (Computer Numerical Control), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), or related software to optimize cutting paths and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments on laser machinery to minimize downtime and maintain peak performance. Conduct dimensional measurements using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to verify part accuracy. Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper handling of industrial equipment and materials handling procedures. Maintain detailed records of production runs, machine logs, quality checks, and inspection reports for traceability and continuous improvement. Assist with loading/unloading materials using forklifts or hand tools while adhering to safety standards in materials handling. Collaborate with team members on assembly line tasks or fabrication processes as needed to meet production goals. Experience Proven experience operating laser cutting machines or similar CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of blueprint reading, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation. Familiarity with CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or other controller systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of mechanical blueprint interpretation, shop math, GD&T principles, and precision measurement instruments like micrometers and calipers. Hands-on experience with fabrication processes including stamping presses, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, or CNC programming is a plus. Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime. Prior factory or manufacturing facility experience emphasizing safety standards in production environments. Basic shop math skills combined with mechanical knowledge for effective problem-solving on the shop floor. Experience with warehouse operations or materials handling using forklifts or hand tools is beneficial.
