Job Description

Position Summary The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup and operation of automated and industrial saw equipment used to cut steel and other materials to required dimensions. This position ensures materials are cut accurately and efficiently according to engineering drawings, cut lists, work orders, and production schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor automated and industrial saw equipment. Load raw steel and other materials onto saws using appropriate material-handling equipment. Measure, mark, and position material for accurate cutting. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and work instructions. Verify saw settings, blade selection, material dimensions, and cut lengths before production runs. Perform in-process inspections using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure dimensional accuracy. Adjust saw settings and operating parameters as necessary to maintain required tolerances. Identify and properly label completed parts for the next stage of production. Monitor blade condition and replace or assist with replacing saw blades as needed. Meet production targets while minimizing material waste, scrap, and machine downtime. Maintain an organized supply of raw materials and properly handle remnants and usable drops. Follow

requirements and company safety policies at all times. Wear required PPE and follow established safe operating procedures. Perform daily equipment and safety inspections before operating machinery. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Perform routine machine checks and basic preventive maintenance. Identify and troubleshoot basic saw or equipment issues to minimize production interruptions. Notify maintenance or supervision when equipment requires repair or additional service. Accurately document production quantities, material usage, downtime, and quality checks in company systems. Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, and equipment issues to the appropriate team members. Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance personnel to support efficient shop operations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience operating industrial, automated, or CNC saw equipment preferred. Steel fabrication or structural steel experience preferred. Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and work orders. Ability to accurately use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Basic computer skills. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate material-handling equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a production team. Dependable attendance and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

From $18.00 per hour
