•Contract employees will follow the "every other weekend off" schedule and rotate days / nights. This will be three working days one week (Sun, Wed, Thurs) and four the next week (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat). After each work cycle of seven days, employee will switch from days to nights or vice versa. This is aligned with the schedule of all manufacturing employees. This will result in 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week, or 84 hours every two weeks. Assessment is required for these positions.
Responsibilities:
The Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) plant operates extruders and auxiliary equipment to manufacture TPU for a broad range of industries. The plant operates 24hr. per day, 7 days per week. The incumbent will be assigned to one of the four teams working on a 12-hour, rotating day/night schedule, reporting to that team's Shift Supervisor. Candidate must possess strong safety, quality and productivity orientation with good written and verbal communication Candidate must display moderate mechanical aptitude. Also, the person must be able to take direction and function with limited supervision. A training process is established, providing a balance of computer-based learning and job shadowing experience. Activities range from selecting, charging, and mixing raw materials, to the set-up and operation of the processing equipment and finally packaging and labelling finished product. Successful candidates have a highly developed teamwork competency, the ability to work under time constraints, excellent customer focus, and once trained, demonstrate the ability to monitor the process and execute required tasks safely, consistently, and reliably.
Education:
Client recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent High School education or GED required Physical ability to work for prolonged periods with high activity including standing, walking, stretching, ascending, and descending stairs and ability to lift up to 50lbs. periodically. Minimum of 1 year working in a manufacturing environment / general industrial experience Ability and discipline to work effectively on a 12-hour shift Working knowledge of common industrial safe work practices (preferred) Fork truck and pallet jack experience (preferred) Experience in chemical, compounding or injection molding facility (preferred)
