Job Description

Job Title:
Laser Operator Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating a 15k fiber laser (Mazak) to cut sheet materials accurately and efficiently in a modern, air-conditioned shop environment. You will handle machine setup, operation, material handling, and basic maintenance while supporting other departments as needed and participating in offsite training to further develop your technical skills. Responsibilities Set up and run a 15k fiber laser (Mazak) to cut sheet materials according to specifications. Configure and operate laser cutting machines to produce parts that meet quality and blueprint requirements. Operate the load/unload system to safely and efficiently move materials through the laser cutting process. Pull sheet materials using a forklift and ensure materials are staged correctly for production. Maintain lasers and surrounding work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Read and interpret blueprints to verify dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements before and during production. Perform tasks in other departments as needed to support overall production flow and team goals. Lift and move materials weighing 50 pounds or more as part of daily operations. Travel for approximately one week for offsite training to learn setups and programming. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience setting up and running a laser, with fiber laser experience preferred. Hands-on experience setting up and operating laser cutting machines. Ability to operate a load/unload system for laser cutting equipment. Ability to pull materials using a forklift safely and efficiently. Proficiency in blueprint reading to ensure accurate production. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Willingness and ability to travel for 1 week for offsite training. Basic understanding of laser operation and Mazak laser equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience specifically with 15k fiber laser equipment. Familiarity with Mazak laser systems and controls. Interest in learning laser setups and programming to expand technical capabilities. Comfort working in a production or fabrication shop environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Reliability and consistency to qualify for attendance-related incentives. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Buffalo, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
