Job Description

Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in Marshville, North Carolina to find an experienced and eager Viking Machine Runner to join their growing team! The Viking Machine Runner is responsible for keeping 2x4 runners properly loaded into the Viking machine to ensure continuous and efficient automatic pallet nailing. This position assists with machine setup, branding, material handling, quality checks, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report to the Viking machine at the scheduled start time wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Load and maintain an adequate supply of 2x4 runners to keep the machine operating without interruption. Paint runners as needed. Set up and test the pallet brander. Open or close the turner as required. Assist with setting up nailers, rails, and other machine components. Maintain the proper runner level and bring up new packs of runners as needed. Inspect runners to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. Notify the machine operator before leaving the work area for restroom breaks or other reasons. Learn and assist with operating the bottom machine. Place runners into designated slots to begin automatic nailing of completed pallets. Monitor the machine and material flow and communicate problems to the Viking operator. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Assist with cleaning the Viking machine and surrounding area at the end of the shift. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Excellent attendance and dependability. Good hand-eye coordination. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Good visual judgment when inspecting lumber quality. Ability to repeatedly twist, lift, pull, push, and handle lumber throughout the shift. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness to learn additional machine operations and assist with the Viking Operator position. Ability to communicate effectively with machine operators and coworkers. Ability and willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures. Safety Responsibilities Follow all EWPI safety rules and procedures. Properly wear and maintain required PPE. Follow lockout/tagout procedures when required. Report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or injuries immediately. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Work safely and responsibly at all times. Physical Requirements This position requires the employee to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical activities including lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, and handling lumber and other materials throughout the work shift. Work Environment The Viking Machine Runner works in a manufacturing environment around pallet production equipment, lumber, nailers, conveyors, and other machinery. The employee must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and following established safety procedures. Other Duties Employees may be required to perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Pay Details:
